When Grant and Michelle Clark opened their first Brewpub in the Brisbane CBD in 2005, they wanted to take their experience of visiting UK and European brewpubs where the beer was produced on-site, and bring it to the Brisbane crowd. Over the years, their venues have been staples for Brisbane locals who want to enjoy good beer. The Clarks have not only enjoyed producing and distributing Brisbane Brewing Co. beer at their West End Brewery and Woolloongabba Brewpub, but have championed many local breweries, small and large, through events and collaborations throughout the last 17 years. With this newest development of canned beer, Brisbane Brewing Co. have entered the packaged beer market with their core beer range for the first time.
Like many breweries, 2022 was a year of reinvention. Brisbane Brewing Co. rebranded with a bold, bright typography-based design to reflect the relaxed, sunny vibe of the city they’re named after. The release of three core range beers heralds a new era for the brand, and a way for a new generation of Brisbane beer drinkers to enjoy a beer brewed for them, in their city.
The Brisbane Brewing Co. brew team are constantly improving every hand-crafted brew and it shows. With hand-picked ingredients and recipes that they have developed over time, the team produces beer in smaller batches using traditional brewing processes with a personal touch.
The freshly canned beers include Brisbane Pale Ale (BPA), Walker IPA and Brissy Lager. They’re well-established beers with a loyal following in Brisbane – this isn’t a flash in the pan. Brisbane Pale Ale has been in production for over 13 years, and Walker IPA for over 12, with Brissy Lager the newest beer, having been permanently on tap since 2019.
These three beers have stood the test of time on the tap list at Brisbane Brewing Co. Popular with venue visitors, and also with judging panels, this year alone Brissy Lager won a gold medal at the Australian International Beer Awards with the judges noting it was “faultless”, while Brisbane Pale Ale (BPA) and cult favourite Walker IPA won Silver. Just last week Walker IPA also bought home a gold medal at the Independent Beer Association Beeries.
